Ole, or monkey #12409, is an elderly brown-fronted capuchin that was acquired by the Primate Center as an adult from Harvard University on April 13, 1982. The very next day he was assigned to Daniel E. Casey for a study of tardive dyskinesia and, with renewed grants, has been ever since. For the past 20 years he has been injected with mind-altering drugs and has lived alone in a small cage. As a result, Ole bites and injures his own penis among other bizarre behaviors. IDA is insisting that he and the other 27 capuchins in this absurd study be released to a sanctuary immediately.
